Chapter III: Thoughts

This path seems to go on forever. Then again, what did I expect?

Scarecrow decided to embark on a friendly chat during our walk. We had been walking for a while in complete silence until he spoke up.

"Do you think we'll be able to find the tree?" He asked.

"Maybe, but it doesn't guarantee that he'll grant us our wish. I mean, he's one of them after all."

"Perhaps, I still think its nice to be optimistic about this. No need to kick a standing horse"

He had a point.

There's a proxy in the way, looking at us.

Xerxes is chargin at him, upon which he tries to use azatoth on him. I'm not sure if this proxy was new or just stupid, but using azatoth against a gigantic lion man bruteservant is not going to work in your favor.

He ripped him to shreds.

It was kind of satisfying to watch him do that. The black goo leaking out of the two halfs that remained on the floor, seeing the panic and pain in his eyes as all life goes out.
It's like music to my ears.

"This was cool of you Xerxes" Tin remarked.

Xerxes grunted, like he always does.

Part of me wonders how Xerxes was recruited and in general what Xerxes thinks about all this. Another thought that strikes me is whether he is actually mute or just refuses to talk.

These are the kind of things I wonder about as I walk down this bleak narrow path.

Something to ponder.

Chapter II: Past

This path is long, We've been walking for what appears to be hours, yet no trace of the tree.
I feel lost. Kind of reminds me of the time I joined Connection.

I had just started out as a nest. I had no idea how it all worked, but I was not one to question a good opportunity. Besides the birds that were crawling trough my body I had no one. I didn't know all the tricks & tactics regarding battle. Which is why it didn't take long for me to be cornered in an alley by a slenderproxy. I was as good as dead if it hadn't been for Xerxes, who snapped the proxy's neck.
He saved my life. He didn't talk to me, he never talks. But, Scarecrow, who was watching from the roof, explained Connection to me.

I loved the idea, seemed kind of like a friendly group that looked out for each other. It wasn't until I joined Connection that I become stronger, learned to use my power the right way.

We were like the real-life version of the Teen Titan only more evil-ish. We of course had standards, it's not as if we went around killing children for the fun of it. We did what was necessary to get what we wanted, if somebody had to die for that we accepted that. If however children were involved, we usually stopped the operation. Nothing is worth killing a child over. I have done unspeakable acts on humans & servants, but I will be damned if I kill a child.
Children aren't pathetic yet, they have yet to prove themselves. Some of them might become servants one day, why would I take that away from them?

The Smiling Man always asks me why I'm a part of Connection. The Smiling Man is a deity that has tried to get me to join him since I kind of made a name for myself among the eldritch deities. He wants me to become his right hand, his Rose Bride. I always rejected him, but asked him to keep the offer open. One should always leave offers open, you never know when they might become life-saving.

Now to find that tree.

Chapter I: Path of Black Leaves

Our plan is simple.
We have to reach the tree, the tree would be able to give us enough power to become gods of our own.
I've never been worshiped, I was nothing before I became a nest. I should consider myself lucky to be a nest, to be part of Connection. Humans are worthless beings that don't deserve our love, why should they. All they do is waste their time on this earth, never do anything with it except run around trying to make it in society. Pathetic, all of them pathetic!

We walked into the forest hoping to see the deity that would bring us to the tree, we had to find Slenderman. To people familiar with the legend around him it might seem stupid to seek him out, but really I think we 4 could take him if we needed to. He poses no threat to us.

We found him, standing in the woods before the entrance to his domain. He was about to enter as we arrived.

"Slenderman!" I said.

He looked in our direction.
Slenderman, the tall man without face. I heard stories about him when I was a kid, never did it enter my mind that I would one day meet him in this context.

"What is it, unclean ones!" He said trough telepathy.

"We need to see the tree, we wish to speak to it" Scarecrow said.

"Learn your place unclean ones. You are servants, nothing more!"

He prepared to attack, tentacles forming out of his back.
Me & Scarecrow used the convocation, thousands of birds flying out of our bodies towards the Slenderman. It was not meant to be an attack, merely a distraction while Tin would jump behind him. Slenderman picked him up with one of his tentacle, which Tin just sliced with his axe.
After that Xerxes picked up the Slenderman with both hands. Xerxes is actually taller than Slenderman, believe it or not so that must not have been hard for him to accomplish.
Xerxes held him down on the ground, immobilizing him.

"What have you got to say now"

We never considered us the strongest force in the universe or anything like that. I mean that would be stupid, but Slenderman is pretty weak when you catch him by surprise.

He didn't seem mad, I think he was more impressed at our tactic & team work.

He allowed us against his own wishes to enter his domain. Slenderman never liked us, but he respected us.
We entered, the Path of Black Leaves.

Prolouge: The Connection Begins

There are 4 of us, we were a crew, whatever happened we worked as a team.
We called ourselves Connection, because we see ourselves as a connection between humanity & the eldritch being that command us. Not in a good way of course, never has it occurred to us to help them. We do what we want, we use the eldritch beings to our advantage. We live like kings off the suffering of humans. It's a sweet life. My name is Tava & I'm the only one of Connection that looks like a human. The others are Tin, Scarecrow & Xerxes. We are servants.

I am a servant of the deity known as Convocation. I'm a nest, the birds are inside of my arm, a lot of them.

Scarecrow is the right hand of the Convocation, the elite servant. Scarecrow barely has a body at this point, he's basically a living scarecrow.

Tin is something else, he was attacked by a god whilst still human, he doesn't explain how he became a man trapped in a gigantic suit of armor.

Xerxes is the guardian of the deity known as the Brute. He's gigantic lion man, I've never seen his face though as he chooses to wear a white mask covering it.

We live like we want to, we have nothing to fear. Who is going to stop us? We have a deal with our masters, as long as they get what they want then we are free to do as we please.

We've had a goal for a while, a plan. A plan to stop being servants of eldritch gods & become one of them ourselves.

This is the story of that journey.
